w00t! – Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Year for 2007

Now I, for a second, thought that Merriam-Webster chose this word for 2007. Actually it was chosen via a vote online. It’s still an interesting word. Let me drop the “definition” from the M-W site first.

w00t (interjection) – expressing joy (it could be after a triumph, or for no reason at all); similar in use to the word “yay” [Merriam-Webster Site]

Awesome. Anyhow, it’s kind of interesting this word, comprising of letters and numbers, being a potential candidate for dictionary inclusion. I think it would be cool a word like this really made it into the dictionary. That is how it’s generally spelled (w00t) and it could make way from other “words” like 1337, pwn3d and the like. And it isn’t like the English language isn’t CRAP about spelling already. “Phone” STILL pisses me off. And why can’t it just be sycology? Anyhow, I made a video about it too. It’s a tad long though at 11 minutes, but there’s a conversation with me and my girl at the end of it about the word “w00t!”

I’m going to fundraise and send you a gift copy of the Compact Oxford English Dictionary

It was too long. You need to learn some editing skills.

I gave the “this one is long” warning at the beginning. What I need is a team of people to do editing for me. 😀

@HALE lol, Should I switch to the Oxford?

I didn’t watch the whole thing, … but seriously??? Miriam Webster is an American Dictionary isn’t it…..?

I’m torn because it’s ridiculous, isn’t it a word anyway? spelled … oh wait I just looked and it isn’t.. Sorry man, I can’t get on board with the the numbers if they were o’s I would think it was cool… but the numbers are too frickin’ silly.
